The New Elemental Mage Types and Powers
Posted by
Anonymous
at
10:50 PM
Hey there viewers, recently Andy and I have done some rethinking of what elemental powers should be included in the game. These are all the elements:
- Water
- Air
- Earth
- Radiance
- Necromancy
- Æther
- Life
Each type can create, control, or absorb their element. In the case of Life Mages, they cannot resurrect life, however. This can only be done with a Necromancy Mage (see below for more information). If a Life Mage absorbs the life in the area, it does cause death but that doesn't make it a Necromancy Mage. This brings up the difference between elemental powers and non-elemental powers; for it to be elemental, that means they can control their element as a complete force and can do basically everything with it (resurrection, however, is not completely affiliated with life). Non-elemental powers means the mage can do various actions with the element but cannot really control it as a whole. Another example would include Radiance mages absorbing all heat in the area to make the area colder. This does not mean they can control ice, though.
And now because of all the time we've had since we last updated this site (before the new maps post), we've also somewhat classified certain spells into different categories, such as the Unity Spells (conjunction-spells, these spells can only be activated by two mages working together) and Armageddon Spells (the most devastating attack spells by a single mage type or a conjunction of two). Some specialized spells we thought of were:
- Earthquake; the Armageddon spell by Earth.
- Hurricane; the Armageddon spell by Air.
- Meteor Shower; the Unity-Armageddon spell by Æther and Earth.
- Volcano; the Unity-Armageddon spell by Radiance and Earth.
- Hell's Gate; the Unity-Armageddon spell by Radiance and Necromancy.
- Tsunami; the Unity-Armageddon spell by Water and Earth.
- Sandstorm/Dust-Storm; the Unity spell by Air and Earth.
- Resurrection; the Unity spell by Life and Necromancy (a 'secret' spell).
More spells will pop up soon, we only wanted to give you a glimpse of what we have worked on.

UltiMage: The World Map

As stated before (I think), the planet's current name is 'Atlas,' just to remind you all. The first map was the original basic design of the world, but two nights ago I decided to enhance it, because it looked... really stupid. The second version I drew, and King Andy labeled and colored it. It was actually somewhat easy, it can be done by anyone who knows how to use Microsoft Paint (and who doesn't?).But Andy has not yet told me what program he used to label it. A mystery to be solved... whenever we feel like it.
We'll describe the land in further detail later on.
Oh, and sorry, the maps are not clickable yet, we didn't want to spoil too much for all of you. What we have here is simply a basic outline. We'll keep working on it, but you can't see the full just yet.

King Andy and I have now joined a certain club at our school from which we can begin our development of the first version of UltiMage, or "UltiMage Beta." Of course a spoof of it may also be created for fun, but at least expect UltiMage Beta by next June.

We have currently developed the first 14 levels. These are as follows.

2. The Lone Mountain
3. The Great Ocean
4. The Windswept Desert
5. The Deserted City
6. The Green Forest
7. The Garden (Le Gardene)
8. The Granite Fields
9. There is no Level 9
10.The Dark Matter Plant
11.The Tundra
12.The Crystal Flats
13.There is no Level 13
14.Exploring the Fount
Mage Types Although Jason is petitioning to have mage types such as "geographic" and "life," I do not believe that it is by any means necessary, and, to be honest, I just do not see the point of it. If he wants to have such things, I think he should come up with some reasoning for it. If you have a suggestion or reason for this, please e-mail me. Right now, therefore, there are only Radiant, Hydral, Arial, and Druid as playable mages, and Necromancy as an unplayable mage type. Your help is greatly appreciated! [K]

Here is the second concept artwork for the map of Mageland, produced by Andrew, founder of UltiMage. The first copy may or may not be added.Notice the hourglass-shape of the country, as possible representation of the Mages' symbolic culture.
Still some minor changes may be added, such as the Sea of the Forgotten Warlords (located either east or west of Mageland) and the Scarlet Dunes (alternate name for The Red Sand Desert).

UltiMage: The Game
Posted by

11:12 PM
Hey there new viewers of this blog! This is a blog dedicated to a game my comrades and I are currently making. The idea first came up in last October back in '08, and we are still working out the mechanics and everything today. No digital developement has begun yet. It's beyond the concept stage but we have still got a long way to go.
Just so you know, there are at least five people helping with this and we're trying to recruit more.
Now this game is (hopefully) going to be a role-playing video game. There is not too much information on the background story or history yet, but the basic idea is that you play as a Mage with elemental powers. The elemental varieties we are keeping are the four common ones you all know and love (or hate):
- Water
- Earth
- Air
- Fire
However, secondary powers come with each element:
- Water; ice
- Earth; solid synthetic matter (Ex: glass)
- Air; weather
- Fire; electricity, radiant energies, etc.
But arguments are arising when thinking of more elements. The element of Necromancy was accepted but not as a playable type. Life is something that I'm stilling trying to move into its own element, because the original concept for the Earth-Mage was to also have plantlife powers. However I declined that and I really want Life to be its own mage-type. Originally, there was to be a Cosmic-Mage which control Time and Space and Physics, but we removed this type because it wouldn't be playable and it was too powerful. Plus it was pointless and we decided to replace them with gods instead.
So anyway, the whole game takes place on Planet Atlas (the name is not necessarily final), and you, the mage, are born within the "Cave of Creation," and you must escape because of the ancient dangers that lurk within. Once you escape, you encounter a nearby village with a Mage who is willing to teach you about becoming a mage. Here you will choose your elemental power. Of course, you are NOT stuck with your element, no. You see, that what I disliked about certain games; you couldn't change your various statistics in a class or your preferred powers. In this game you can change your element at any time, but in order to do so you must encounter a higher Mage who is willing to train you in a different element.
Then your quest begins. Of course, we haven't planned much about what the objective of the game is and other various goals, but one important factor is that Darkmatter is present in some parts of the game and act as a natural weakness to mages; it makes you unable to attack with elemental magic (but you can still use basic spells).
Now about the NecroMages; they wield black magic and dark abilities, but cannot control Dark Matter physically. However, they are the ONLY known mage-type that have resistance to Darkmatter's weakening abilities, but the reason why they're unplayable is because of the history of Mageland; they became extinct long ago during the Battle of the Forgotten Warlords, the third battle of the "Great Wars," and none have been seen since. However, one non-official idea I had was that at some point in the game, you encounter a NecroMage while in an ancient temple. This NecroMage is willing to teach you NecroMage abilites (including their resistance to Darkmatter) and the "light side" of dark magic. But this idea has yet to be accepted.
Now, if you're interested in this game concept and you want to lend us your ideas or ask any questions, email me at:

And don't be shy, we'd love to hear your ideas!
